Sunset from last week. Would this count as golden hour?
I’ve been quiet lately! These days, I’ve been preoccupied by a bit of reading, baking, and a general laziness about processing photos. Here are some macaron shells from last month:
I’ve been busy last month… with a lot of baking! Check out last week’s macaron baking with Cindy.
I’ve been baking a lot of macarons.
…I’ve been failing at baking a lot of macarons. My fail jar:
Today I baked with our subscriber, Amy…beautiful!
Now I’ve just pulled these out of the oven! I let them get too hot because I was listening to Carl talk to her fake diabetes patient.
I watched the whole thing. It motivated me. I flicked air bubbles out of my macarons too..everything is related.
I’m almost there guys. Send me your addresses and maybe you’ll get some once I get them down!
Today, on my walk back to my apartment, I stopped by to take a peek at Utrecht Art Supplies on Woodward and bought myself a nice little drawing pad.
It’s a nice art supplies shop. I haven’t delved into art for a couple of years so hopefully this will awaken my creativity. Also a great place to get framing done, so I hear from classmates!
With the weather finally warming up after last weekend’s cold spell, my friends and I stepped out for a quick snack in Greektown. We ended up visiting New Parthenon for an early and light dinner.
Of course we started with the Saganaki, a ‘kasseri cheese fried in olive oil, flamed’ according to the menu. Opa!
It was my first time trying the saganaki, and there’s nothing quite like it. I may need to make it a regular Greektown staple from here on out!
We also had the Greek meatballs (delicious) and the Antipasto plate, which consisted of several dips and sides. We actually had the melitzanosala eggplant dip swapped for the scordalia garlic dip. I wasn’t a huge fan of the taramo–not a big fan of roe or caviar, but the scordalia and sageki (yogurt with garlic, cucumber and celery) were great with the bread. Great place for the afternoon, and great afternoon to wander around the area.
Yesterday, P. introduced me to the concept of panning photography, i.e., photographing moving subjects, and I tried it while we were at a small park yesterday. Definitely haven’t grasped it yet, but this one of the better results!
I recently picked up photography (thanks a million, Cindy!) and occasionally, that is, one in a thousand pictures will turn out better than I expect. Here’s a picture of last week’s sunset from my window, #Detroit #unfiltered.
The Eastside Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Michigan Color Run with some of the best people I know ♥
[05.11.2013]
Some of us DERS participated in yesterday’s Color Run in Ypsi. jiennea is a rebel so she refused to wear the official shirt. dparkx90 is a rebel so he refused to show up. fcmiran is a rebel so he insisted on using his headband as a neck warmer. jennyoturkeysto is a rebel so she called it a neck brace. We DERS are generally rebels.
The color run made me hungry. Pixy Stix. Although the powder was food grade starch with flavoring, it didn’t taste very good. We found that after inhaling too much powder at the blue color station. See our teeth?
We went a bit overboard with the red and orange color packets. A lot of the colors were similar, which made me sad. Pigment is a puzzle. After the race, a random lady sprayed colored water on us. If i had known it was water, I wouldn’t…
