[Europe] Colosseum

The Colosseum (Flavian Ampitheatre)

This was taken on the nicer of the two days Riry and I were in Rome. Never again do I want to go to Rome during the hottest time of summer. I’m just not made out for 35°+ C weather 😦

Nevertheless, it was beautiful and breathtaking, but also, in a way, wistful, knowing that what once stood before our eyes, now only existed in our mind’s eye; knowing that I could never envision one of the most iconic symbols from my childhood in its full glory.

  1. We too visited Rome on a hot (very hot) August day some years ago. We were travelling in a campervan and literally drove in, tirned round and drove out again – over to the coast. But the history, absolutley love it 🙂

Oh geez, lucky! I wish we had a van haha, but my friend and I toughed it out and ended up walking the whole time we were there. I absolutely agree about the history though, it’s so rich and you’re just surrounded by it!
