Yaki ice cream is ingenius. Just FYI. This came at the end of the tonkatsu lunch special from the previous entry. Before I even get into the spiel about dessert in Japan, as that is an explanation for another entry, I wanted to introduce y’all to this little chunk of yummy!
I’m not sure what it is exactly called but tastes similar to yaki purin (焼きプリン) (scroll for pictures), which translates directly into “grilled pudding” but is actually a sort of egg-custard snack/dessert (more on this later). So I don’t know if the ice cream is grilled–probably not, right? But the top and glaze did have the same taste as the yaki purin, which was like a tastebud party in my mouth. I wish I had more to say… and eat! 😉
